Certainly the one biggest conversion we’ve done. The building is a detached Victorian house with a big roof space. The client wanted to turn it into a leisure area with a pool table and a gym. Due to the share size of the loft and its potential usability, most of the floor structure and the roof structure had to be designed with steel to ensure its stabilities. One of the challenges was to manually align the steel without collapsing the whole ceiling bed due to the monstrosity of the steel.
To create a beautiful view of the garden, one of the gable ends was converted into a curtain wall adorned with safety glass to create a feeling of being outside but inside while playing pool.
